Knockbreda hears about Community Project

Glenn Jordan, Director of  Skainos, an urban regeneration project in inner East Belfast, addressed the Knockbreda Parish Church Men's Breakfast.

He was welcomed to the Parish by the Rector, Ven. Philip Patterson, Archdeacon of Down and the convener of the Men's Breakfast, Mr Tom Davies.

Speaking about his personal faith story, Glenn talked about the need for the Christian faith to have an impact in the local community. He encouraged the men to think about the needs that were on their doorsteps and to do something about it.

He said, "The gospel is not just about transforming the individual, it's also about transforming whole communities. The aim of Skainos is to create a shared space for community transformation and renewal. It's a unique project for a unique situation on the Newtownards Road. But the principle is transferable, reaching communities with the gospel of Christ."

Well known businessman and Knockbreda Parishioner, Mr James Brown is heavily involved with the project as a member of the Board.

Skainos grew out of the work of East Belfast Mission and has been in development for 10 years.
