Continue to pray for Maize n' Grace

Evangelist Angus Buchan makes a return visit to the province at the Odessey Arena 0n 27th and 28th May 2011. The event organisers invite you to pray...

It is of no significance that Angus is coming, it's not important that for two nights he will be our main stage speaker, indeed there is nothing to get excited about that a South African farmer will be making the journey at all! Until you realise that here is a man blessed by God, a man who has the gift of enangelism, who many confess to be instrumental in bringing them to faith.

Angus Buchan has not been invited to Belfast because he preaches to thousands, has written books or produced a movie, it is not because he is well known or will guarantee all seats to be filled in the Odyssey - no, he has been invited because he is a man, who when he speaks - God moves. This is a man who can say the same words as you or I, but who is filled with the Spirit of God to speak to people, and bring conviction.

But we have heard it all before - the language of Christianity, salvation, repentance is old, clichéd and repetitive. Christians have many options of 'things' to go to now, events to attend. Why bother with this one?

If you are one of those thinking like this, let's be reminded of the words of Scripture in Isaiah 55.8, that our ways are not God's ways. God moves where he chooses, and we should not be judging things by earthly standards (our ways). We must look towards the Spiritual realm and the Kingdom principles (Gods ways) to discern what best to support. Indeed the Bible affirms this by encouraging us not to lean on our own understanding (Proverbs 3.5). It is our understanding of things which so often limits God, which is why prayer is the central pillar of this event.

We are not eagerly anticipating Angus Buchan on the 27-28th May, we are eagerly anticipating what God will do through him on the 27-28th May. Angus is simply an empty vessel willing to be used by God in a mighty way, in his weakness - God's power is revealed (2 Cor 12.9) which is why we must pray, removing faith in our abilities and planting faith firmly in God's abilities...

Our prayers are focussed on three key areas:

Angus Buchan

  • For health, protection and blessing in his life

  • That God would inspire him with the message to bring to us in the Odyssey

  • For his relationship with God to grow and deepen

Administration

  • For unity, wisdom and discernment in all decision making

  • That all logistical issues would be overcome

  • That doors would be opened and paths shut off by the Holy Spirit as we seek His will

Publicity

  • That many churches would get on board with this, promoting it among their people.

  • That many Christians would catch a sense of the vision and rally behind this event as a means of introducing their family and friends to God, perhaps even for the first time.

  • That the media and others would pick up on the story so it would 'get out there'

We pray all this in unity, to the glory of God - not by our strength, but in the name of Jesus.

Amen
