KJV@4:00 enters Lent

Bishop Harold was the Ash Wednesday reader as part of the Good Book Shop's KJV@4:00 project which runs throughout 2011. As has become the custom, at 4pm the Bishop read his allotted portion (1 Samuel chapters 1-6) from start to finish.

He is one in a long series of readers who, between them, will have read aloud the entire Bible by 23rd December 2011. Participation is open to everyone who wants to read including clergy, lay readers, youth workers, Sunday school groups and, of course, customers. The event is in celebration of the 400th anniversary of the King James Version of the Bible.

Pictured with the bishop is Revd D Kevin Jones, a minister based in Southport Banks Methodist Church in Lancashire, and his wife Mrs Ann-Marie Jones. They were in Belfast this week to see the Gaither Vocal Band perform in the Odyssey Arena. On their travels, they stopped off at the bookshop, and hearing of the Bible reading project that was taking place there, came back at 4pm to hear it.
