Donkey business at Mount Merrion!

Holy Week began with a special visitor to the east Belfast parish of Mount Merrion.

Angela Megarry, (Children's Worker), organised for Murphy the donkey to come and join the parishioners of Mount Merrion Parish Church for their Palm Sunday service.  The children entered church, throwing palm branches on the floor, and the donkey followed behind.  Capt. Richard Waller, (Church Army), then talked about the role the donkey played in the Easter story before the children lead the donkey outside whilst everyone sang 'Hosanna, Hosanna'.

Murphy the donkey hung around after the service and received some carrots as a reward for his good behaviour.

Revd Adrian Green said it was wonderful to see so many adults and children in church and was an excellent start to their Holy Week events.  These include Streetreach activities, Jumble Giveaway, BBQs, Messy Church, the 'Egg Factor' kids scheme and Easter Sunday celebration.
