Don't forget to 'Drop When you Shop'

The Bishop's Poverty Think Tank has encouraged every church in the Diocese of Down and Dromore to invite the members of their congregation to have a shopping trolley available in each church on every Sunday during Lent.

We trust that all around the diocese people are donating tins, dried goods, jars and other food items with a long shelf life.

Ideally parishes have put in place their own plans for the distribution of this food to those who would most benefit from it in their local area. Otherwise the food can be brought to :

  • The Food Store at Willowfield Parish Church, Belfast

  • Dare to Care via House of Hope at Dromore Cathedral (contact Sam Redmond samredmond@btinternet.com)

  • St Mary's Ballybeen: Partners with the Storehouse Ministry of Belfast Vineyard

  • St Saviour's Craigavon: A regular Grub Tub, contact Capt Brian Wisener(tel: 3839 1248)

  • Magheralin & Dollingstown via their CAP Centre, contact Basil O'Malley (tel: 07912 087505).

(If you are aware of other places or agencies in the diocese that already have a centre for distributing food, please contact the Bishop's Office and we will add them to the list). Our Poverty Survey is now closed.
