Holy Week 2011
Holy Week in Christianity is the last week of Lent and the week before Easter. It includes the religious holidays of Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday (Holy Thursday) and Good Friday, and lasts from Palm Sunday until, but not including, Easter Sunday.
It commemorates the last week of the earthly life of Jesus Christ before his crucifixion on Good Friday and his resurrection on Easter Sunday whereupon a new liturgcal season begins.
Bishop Harold is leading the Holy Week meditations each evening in Bangor Abbey at 7.30pm, on the theme 'The Wounds of Jesus'. Download a PDF of the full text each evening here:
Monday: The Wounds of Jesus 1 - His back
Tuesday: The Wounds of Jesus 2 - His head
Wednesday: The Wounds of Jesus 3 His hands
Thursday: The Wounds of Jesus 4 His feet
Friday: The Wounds of Jesus 5 His side and heart
