Pray for the Browne Family

As part of our committment to the Diocese of Northern Argentina, we pray for Michael and Silvia Browne with Kevin and Chris. They write in May 2011:

I'm writing this letter with a heavy cold, coinciding with the first spell of cold weather this autumn.

Please give thanks for work already done by José Manuel and Hilario Tenaiquín on the translation of the Minor Prophets. According to Hilario, they have now completed all remaining books (I already have Joel, Obadiah, Jonah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah and Haggai). Michael's next visit to the Toba communities is planned for 13th May, when hopefully all this work will be handed over to him.

Pray for José and Hilario to find time to continue over these next two years, as well as moving into the area of literacy materials. Pray for Michael studying Hebrew at home in preparation for the checking process. And pray we can find musicians to help lead some of the music workshops we hope to run later in the year (especially during the winter months when it’s not too hot!)

Please pray for the checking of the Minor Prophet texts, which will take more time than the first draft translations that have just been done.

On 8th June Michael hopes to meet up with a group from the Argentine Bible Society, in order to talk about possibilities for printing the Minor Prophets in Toba. Pray for this meeting to be held in Las Lomitas (Formosa Province), where the Pilagá Indians will also be presented with audio recordings of the Gospels and Acts, in their language, recorded on CDs.

Pray for the Anglican Church of Northern Argentina - pray that God would raise up new leaders with vision and spiritual authority to take on the challenges of today’s church. Pray for Assistant Bishop Nick Drayson and Catherine based in Juárez: for effective ministry in building up and strengthening the Toba, Wichí and Chorote churches as well as the local Spanish-speaking church in Juárez.

During 2011 there are several celebrations in different parts of the Diocese of Northern Argentina for the 100th anniversary of the arrival of the first Anglican missionaries. The Toba churches will have their celebration on 30th October.

The church where we have been worshiping in Salta is in crisis, and in recent weeks many people have left the church. Now there is no one to run the Junior Church, and so we too as a family are unsure what to do now: please pray for us in this difficult situation.

Pray for Nano, building up confidence with a group of teenagers in La Unión estate through volleyball on Saturday afternoons, and for Nilda and Valeria, planning to start a children's ministry soon: give thanks that permission has been granted to use a community hall in a neighbouring estate.

Pray for Silvia’s ministry with a group of young people, still in the process of getting organized into a regular theatre group, and for guidance in where to begin the work.

Pray for our health and wellbeing as a family - for spiritual refreshment for us week by week, and protection from all the enemy's attacks. Give thanks that we continue to enjoy good health generally, especially that Michael's diabetes (latent type 1) is being controlled with diet and exercise. Pray for Silvia still with treatment for premature menopause.

Many thanks for all your support in prayer! God bless you!

With love in Jesus,

Michael, Silvia, Kevin and Chris
