10]><![endif]Ainslie McMullan, Centre Manager updates us on the activities of the CAP Lurgan Centre which is in partnership with the parishes of Magheralin & Dollingstown and Shankill.
By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 3:10-11
"The foundations for the Lurgan CAP centre have been laid with wisdom over the last 18 months and now we have the responsibility of building upon the work that has already been done. As a result structures have been put in place to ensure that certain areas of the work get the attention they need.
Eileen Trew has agreed to coordinate Befrienders, Beryl Whitehead has agreed to oversee the prayer ministry and Ian Gibson of Shankill Parish has come on board to manage the practical support we can give to clients. I am looking forward to serving alongside all of them in the coming months.
Now that I have completed my training, Basil and I can see twice as many new clients each month and God has been faithful in ensuring that every appointment slot has been filled since we doubled our capacity. By continuing to publicise the work of the centre we can help many more people crippled by the stress debt brings. In all things that we do in growing the ministry of CAP, it will be in heed of Paul's warning to the Corinthians; by building on the true foundation and keeping our focus on Jesus, our cornerstone and working only for His glory.
Update
The last weekend in May saw CAP host its first Discovery Break in Northern Ireland, which took place at Castlewellan Castle. These breaks give an opportunity for CAP families to be treated and pampered for 3 days, free of charge and is a chance for us to share God’s love for them in a meaningful way. Over 50 people were booked in and in the next issue I hope to share some of the stories from that weekend. Watch this space!
Summer is around the corner - well at the time of writing the rain is pelting down and I’m well wrapped up with the heating on full pelt, but I imagine the sun will be splitting the sky as you read this! Susan Sadler, CAP’s Lead Evangelist will be visiting Northern Ireland in August and has kindly agreed to come to Lurgan for a day to lend her services. We will be making the most of this wonderful opportunity and will be organising events for Befrienders and clients, which Susan will attend.
I would like to offer a big "Thank You" to Colin Atkinson who ran the London Marathon in April in aid of CAP and raised an amazing £1500.00!
