The Meaning of Addiction: ACC workshops
The association of Christian Counsellors is holding two evening worshops for counsellors, pastors, ministers, youth leaders, pastoral visitors and all who need to work with addiction, or be able to recognise it.
Many people experience the symptoms of addiction for years without being aware that they have a serious problem, at some point however they may ask themselves, “Do I have an addiction?”
Very often a client will present in a therapeutic setting with a life issue where addiction has been a key contributor, or indeed the main contributor giving rise to the presenting problem.
The workshops on offer in October (over two evenings 6 and 13 in Newtownabbey) have been designed to provide the counsellor or community practitioner with an understanding of the nature of addiction and its implication for those directly and indirectly affected.

The course will also provide some of the basic assessment tools and interventions to determine the various stages of progression, in particular for those affected by alcohol and gambling addiction.
Course teacher, Alex Bradley is a Senior Accredited BACP Counsellor/Psychotherapist and IACP Counselling Supervisor who has worked as a therapist in the North West of Ireland since 1993. He is also a NLP practitioner (INLPTA) with specific interest and experience in helping clients overcome addictions.
