Bishop Ken Clarke signs copies of his new book

The Bishop of Kilmore, Elphin & Ardagh, The Rt Revd Ken Clarke, has just published a new book, ‘Going for Growth: Learning from Peter’.  After reading a passage from the King James Bible as part of the shop’s year–long ‘KJVat400’ anniversary commemorations in the Good Bookshop, Belfast, Bishop Ken signed copies of Going for Growth at a special book signing.

In the book, which has a foreword by Gordon MacDonald, Bishop Clarke draws out lessons from St Peter’s life for us today. MacDonald writes how both he and Bishop Clarke have ‘a mutual affection for Simon Peter … because of his story, which tells of a journey from spritual crudeness to sainthood’. In the book, Bishop Clarke writes on how he believes that Jesus still works the same kind of transformation in his followers. The book is intended to equip enthusiastic disciples and growing leaders to keep their focus, handle failure and fulfil their potential in God’s service.

Ian Coffey, Director of Leadership Training at Moorlands College, commends the book by saying, ‘If you have been called to lead (or suspect you might be), there is much here to encourage you’, while The Rt Revd Wallace Benn, Bishop of Lewes, describes it as ‘essential reading for every Christian who wants to grow’.

‘Going for Growth: Learning from Peter’, published by IVP (Inter–Varsity Press) is available for sale at various bookshops including the Good Book Shop at Church House, Belfast.
