Focal Point: Snapshots of Mission
A picture is worth a thousand words…
For many people who embark on mission service and social outreach locally or globally, their photographs capture memories that last a lifetime. Whether it’s litter picking on a summer team in Dublin, working alongside local Christians to build a school in Kenya or engaging in a community development project in Kathmandu…our experiences of mission are often recorded on film and are among our most treasured images.
CMS Ireland is hosting two special events entitled, Focal Point: Snapshots of Mission, to celebrate these experiences and the photographs that reflect them. These informal evenings will include music, chat and refreshments and will feature a Focal Point Exhibition. They are open to all with an interest in photography, mission or just an enjoyable evening out!
How YOU can get involved…
Do you have a favourite photo or two that offer a window on God’s big story of mission? Maybe it’s a beautiful, artistic image from a local mission event or an overseas trip, or perhaps it’s a simple shot of a person or place that means a lot to you – its value is in the story behind the picture! We would love you to send us one or two images, along with a few sentences to say where and when the picture was taken and why they mean something to you.
Simply email the high–resolution images to momentum@cmsireland.org by 26th September 2011 (to allow for printing) along with text that gives the story behind the photo. We will include the photographs in our website gallery, facebook page and will enter them into the Focal Point Competition. They may also be included in the exhibition.
All entries to the competition will be viewed by a panel of judges with photography expertise, who will share their professional opinion on some of their favourite shots.
