Julie joins Children’s Ministry Network

The newly formed Church of Ireland Children’s Ministry Network met for the second time recently at the RB in Dublin. The committee has been created by Standing Committee to explore the needs of children’s ministry in the Church of Ireland.

Our Children’s Development Officer, Julie Currie, represents Down and Dromore on the group which is being chaired by Peter Hamill, Diocesan Training Co–ordinator for Connor. The committee comprises nominated representatives from each of the twelve dioceses plus representatives from the Boards of Education and CIYD and a co–opted member of the Sunday School Society.

The Children’s Ministry Network hope to increase the profile of children’s ministry in the Church of Ireland and look at ways leaders can be supported in this vital ministry. Peter Hamill said, ‘It is wonderful to see the passion and enthusiasm for children’s ministry from the diocesan representatives and we look forward to finding practical ways of encouraging and helping leaders in children’s ministry’. The aim is that the diocesan representatives will be able to provide resources and to support those involved in children’s ministry within their dioceses.’

The diocesan representatives are Rev Barry Paine (Armagh), Rev James Mulhall (Cashel & Ossory), Rev Henry Blair (Clogher), Margaret Fullerton (Connor), Rev Anne Skuse (Cork), Tammi Peek (Derry & Raphoe), Julie Currie (Down & Dromore), Rev Anne Taylor (Dublin & Glendalough), Joanne Quill (Kilmore), Rev Jane Galbraith (Limerick), Alison Jones (Meath & Kildare) and Orla Brickenden (Tuam).
