Charities benefit from businessman’s initiative

Two charities with strong connections in the diocese are to become beneficiaries of a new and creative fundraising initiative.

Fields of Life or Tearfund will benefit from the ‘igiveto‘ campaign set up by Bangor insurance company, J Hatty & Co.

How it works

Any insurance product you may use has a distribution cost. Whether it is commission or advertising it is part of the premium that you pay. Igiveto shares this revenue with your chosen charity. So, you pay no more for your insurance but you give a much needed donation to your favourite cause.

The idea

“The genesis of the idea was a spark of inspiration on a Tearfund Sunday morning two years ago,” said Paul Hatty, the committed Christian behind the initiative. He was trying to increase his own charitable giving and also looking for ways to find new customers.

“It struck me that every supporter of Tearfund in NI, by and large, will have a home and a car and would need to insure them. Tearfund will already be contacting these people to encourage their giving, so they could use that connection to “sell “ the insurance vehicle ‘igiveto’ and in return would get half of the commission earned, for as long as the client stayed. This would build up a constituency of regular giving to the charity, give the supporters well sourced insurance and advice, and increase my customer base. Hopefully a win, win, win situation.”

Richard Spratt, Chief Executive Officer of Fields of Life, says that the ‘igiveto’ campaign is a great opportunity for people to support the charity.

“It enables a direct benefit for the disadvantaged communities with whom we work in East Africa through providing access to education and clean water. And hopefully it takes the pain out of paying for insurance!”

J Hatty & Co at all times endeavours to provide competitive terms whilst enabling companies to support Fields of Life and Tearfund. Paul Hatty or one of his senior team are happy to arrange a complimentary, personal visit for a consultation and can be contacted at  paul@igiveto.co.uk

Please note that the same offer applies for all other personal & business insurance requirements and existing policies can also be transferred so as not to lose their current policy terms.
