’Game on’ as new book is launched

A brand new games book for youth and children’s groups has just been produced by Andrew Brannigan and Peter Hilton of Down and Dromore Diocese. ‘Tried and Tested Youth Games’ is only A6 in size yet contains 171 popular and ‘tested’ games suitable for young people and older children. It was developed primarily for those who want simple, fun and easy to run games and brings together many games that leaders will recognise. It also comes in a covered ring bound format to help leaders refer to it in the middle of the activity.

The games book was launched at a local youth group where Peter Hilton (pictured running one of the games) commented, “The idea for this resource came from meeting so many youth leaders who struggle to find the time to buy and look up the thousands of games and activities that are now available for youth and children’s work. This book simply gathers together into a handy format the games that we know have been tried and tested with groups. It should hopefully make the games part of running youth groups easier–especially for volunteer leaders. We are very pleased with its impact as over 850 have been sold already.”

The book contains 171 indexed games in the following areas:

1.     Get to Know You & Ice–Breaker Games

2.     Circle Games

3.     Relay Games

4.     Team Games

5.     Messy Games

6.     Thinking Games

7.     Other Games

8.     Games for Smaller Children
