Holy Week 2012

Holy Week in Christianity is the last week of Lent and the week before Easter. It includes the religious holidays of Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday (Holy Thursday) and Good Friday, and lasts from Palm Sunday until, but not including, Easter Sunday.

It commemorates the last week of the earthly life of Jesus Christ before his crucifixion on Good Friday and his resurrection on Easter Sunday whereupon a new liturgcal season begins.

All of our parishes are conducting Holy Week services to which you are warmly welcomed. Here are a few notable events:

Bishop Harold is preaching each evening of Holy Week in St Columba’s, Knock at 8.00pm. The congregation will include both Anglicans and Methodists.

Meanwhile, in Craigavon, the ‘Life Begins at 40’ Mission will last all week and include 27 events to suit all ages and tastes. Please pray for 8 fruitful days in the life of the parish and its surrounding community. Read more here.

Baroness Caroline Cox is the speaker on Wednesday 4 April at 7.30pm in Willowfield Church. Christ suffered and his followers today suffer awful persecution in many nations. Baroness Cox will share remarkable stories of her work and the work of Humanitarian Aid Relief Trust in the suffering Church today.
