New book from Adrian McCartney

A new book by Revd Adrian McCartney (leader of Boring Wells, a Fresh Expression of Church) was officially launched in The Good Book Shop on 6th March.

‘The God With Sore Legs’ tells the story of Adrian’s attempt to cycle around Ireland with a few friends, an adventure for which they have little preparation or experience.

The book portrays two aspects to the journey– the physicality of it, as well as the deeply spiritual aspect which Adrian and the other cyclists experience. As the cover of the book explains:

“The sense of adventure makes them think again as they begin to explore all sorts of things that have affected them for many years – things like faith and hope and relationships and purpose.”

Not only does the book take the reader on a geographical tour around the Ards Peninsula and down into Co Wicklow, but it also takes them on a journey through John’s Gospel, as the author wonders at the immensity of God becoming flesh and dwelling among us.

‘The God with Sore Legs – A perambulation around the roads of Ireland and the soul’ is available now from ‘The Good Book Shop’, price £8.99.
