Institution at Seapatrick, Banbridge

Archdeacon Roderic West was instituted as rector of Seapatrick Parish, Banbridge, on Friday 27 April 2012. The preacher at the service was The Rt Revd Ken Clarke, Bishop of Kilmore, Elphin and Ardagh.

Roderic, who took up his position as Archdeacon of Dromore on 1 October 2011, is originally from Aghavea Parish in the Diocese of Clogher. He was educated at Portora Royal School in Enniskillen, ordained in 1986 and served his curacy with the Venerable William B Neill in Dromore Cathedral.

Roderic was appointed Rector of the parishes of Carrowdore and Millisle in 1989 and served there for six years before being instituted as Rector of St John’s Parish, Moira in June 1995. He is currently the Diocesan Link Coordinator with Albany Diocese.

Roderic is married to Joan, a nurse, who has shared with him in leadership and ministry in the parishes. They have two daughters, Ruth and Claire. Ruth is the curate assistant in the Waterford Group of parishes and Claire is a teacher in Lisburn.

Roderic is passionate about mission in the local Church and in encouraging personal spiritual growth and development.

He enjoys walking, travelling and is rediscovering an interest in gardening.
