Diocese celebrates first ever children’s praise party

Sunday school children from across our diocese descended upon Moira Parish on Saturday 19 May for a wonderful day of fun and learning about being part of God’s amazing family.

Madness in Moira reigned as nearly 300 children plus leaders packed the parish centre to capacity for a 3 hour programme. 20 Sunday schools from all over the diocese of Down and Dromore arrived fresh and ready to go!

The day was non–stop with worship, activities, puppets, songs, crafts, snacks, goodie bags and two very creative talks from our wonderful speaker on the day – Nick Harding. Nick is the Children’s Officer in the Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham.

One of the many, many highlights was the Children’s Big Banner competition on the theme of Gods Big Family. The banners were absolutely spectacular with a lot of hard work from the children and direction from the Sunday school teachers – everyone was a winner with a certificate on the day but there had to be an overall winner, which was Bangor Parish; and two highly commended – Mt Merrion and the ducks of Magheralin. Congratulations to every Sunday school who took part.

Everyone went home tired but with an enormous smile, knowing that they are part of something big, bigger than just their own Sunday school or church. They really are part of Gods big family.
