The Bible Society at work in Sudan

On Saturday 21 April, around mid–day, hundreds of Muslims attacked the Sudan Presbyterian Evangelical Church that is home to one of the oldest Bible Schools in the country. The attackers destroyed everything. All the offices were burnt down with nothing at all being left salvageable. Many Bibles were also burnt and, as can be imagined, this has greatly upset the Christians there.

Thank God that no one was injured in what could have been a deadly attack and pray that the Christians will be able to show forgiveness to their neighbours who do not know the Gospel of Christ.

Please continue to pray for all Christians in Sudan, especially those being forced to leave their church and move over the border to South Sudan. There is much important ministry continuing as the Bible Society has relocated to Juba in South Sudan: translation work in several languages, Scripture distribution to refugee camps, as well as creating and distributing Scripture in formats that can be used to reach out to those who persecute the Christian communities.

Please pray for safety, wisdom and encouragement for the Bible Society staff of South Sudan, that they may know God’s hand and presence in all they do.
