Sally celebrates her 100th

Congratulations to Miss Sally Wilson of Kilkeel who reached her 100th birthday on 4 June. Although Sally never likes a fuss, family and friends made the journey specially to celebrate with her on her special day.

She was born in Co Leitrim so, as well a birthday card from the Queen, Sally received a letter of congratulations from the President of Ireland, Michael Higgins.

She grew up in the coach house at Mourne Park, Lord Kilmorey’s estate, and the family used to walk to Sunday morning worship in Christ Church Kilkeel.

Once Sally’s parents became infirm they moved to a bungalow in the town where she cared for them until their deaths. She remained a regular worshipper in Christ Church until her own ill–health prevented it.

Sally is pictured here with the rector of Kilkeel, Revd Ken McGrath and 4 week old baby Emily, daughter of a dear friend.
