A full house for first night of Bible Week

There was standing room only as the Bishop’s Bible Week got underway in Willowfield Parish Church last night.

A record number of people of all ages from around the diocese gathered for worship and to hear Bishop Harold speak on Revelation chapters 2 and 3. He is ‘Speaking Personally’ and out of a strong conviction that the seven letters to the churches contain timely words for the diocese and the church at large. The Bishop is teaching across the letters, drawing out common themes in each, and last night’s title was ‘Jesus Lord of the Church’.

This is the sixth Bishop’s Bible Week and the format remains largely unchanged with the Bible teaching at the centre of an evening bathed in worship and the opportunity for prayer ministry at the end.

Willowfield organist, John Lyttle, and Zara Monteith led worship and this year, instead of special guests giving the Bible readings, they were on video. Click here to view.

Last night was also the occasion of the ‘graduation’ of 5 individuals who have completed the Bishop’s Bible Course. Barbara Carlisle, Tom Davies, Ethel Leckey, Bernadette McAvoy and Suzanne Cousins all received certificates from Bishop Harold and Canon Robert Neill who teaches the course on Thursday evenings.

Even if you missed the first night, please come along to subsequent evenings in Willowfield at 8.00pm, finishing on Friday 31 August.
