Bishop Harold welcomes appointment of new Archbishop of Canterbury

Statement from The Rt Revd Harold Miller, Bishop of Down and Dromore, welcoming the appointment of The Rt Revd Justin Welby as Archbishop of Canterbury:

I greatly welcome the appointment of Justin Welby as the 105th Archbishop of Canterbury. He takes on a vital and pivotal role in the Church of England and the wider Anglican Communion at a critical and important time. I ask all to intercede fervently and constantly for him, because the task he is called to is more than any human being can achieve in their own strength. May he be firm and strong in passing on the faith once delivered, a true focus of unity in our devastated communion and a humble servant of our Lord Jesus Christ. We offer him our warm and prayerful support as he prepares to be one of the key Christian leaders in the world.
