Gilford gets a new roof!

Bishop Harold was invited to St Paul’s, Gilford on 18 November to rededicate the roof of the parish church.

For some time the roof had been in a bad state of repair with slates needing replaced and the ceiling had to be replastered in a number of places. Thankfully the timber was found to be in a good state and did not require replacement.

The work was completed over the summer months and whilst it was going on the congregation worshipped each Sunday morning in the church hall  – an experience which everyone agreed was ‘interesting’!

The parish took the opportunity to paint the interior of the church when the work on the roof was completed and in August the congregation was delighted to return to their fresh but familiar surroundings.

Bishop Harold preached at the service and he challenged the congregation to think about their purpose and how they could utilise the building they worshipped in. Tea was served afterwards and members of the congregation had the opportunity to chat to the Bishop.
