Coming up in 2013, a Diocesan Summer Adventure!
A reminder that in the summer of 2013 the diocese will run a six day summer camp for young people that will provide lots of activities and fun with daily core teaching, discussion and prayer. It’s an exciting initiative and a first in recent years for the diocese but we need your support and enthusiasm to make it work.
We will provide a full programme with experienced leadership and will be subsidising the price to below £100 to enable families to afford it. Our aim is to start with one week in 2013 with the possibility of adding more weeks in subsequent years.

Who is it for?
Young people aged 11 to 14 years. It is open to all young people but will include a strong faith element.
Activities
A variety of games and activities provided will hopefully include: gorge walking, plunge pools, laser games, campfire cooking, archery, shelter building and sleep out, climbing, crafts, team challenges, cooking and nature trails.
A typical day
This will include a daily Christian Education session with worship, teaching and discussion groups. There will also be a time for a ‘campers’ choice’ of skills and activities, structured outdoor activities in the afternoon and evening games and activities. Each day will finish with a short prayer time. There’ll be meals and some free time in there too!
Where do you fit in?
It’s the first time in years that our diocese has run a summer camp. To make it work we will need a core group of 5–6 parishes to partner with us in helping to run the camp and also in bringing some of their young people along. This will enable other parishes to send young people along without sending a leader.
We hope that it will be the start of a process that makes a difference in the lives of our young people and helps to grow disciples and leaders for the future.
We are in the process of designing a leaflet to give out to parents, but please consider this as a possibility for your parish for 2013.
