Free resources for churches based on two big films

Use ‘Life of Pi’ and the soon to be released film version of ‘Les Miserables’ as launching pads for discussion around Biblical themes. Damaris Trust  is delighted to provide entirely free resources for both films which are available in a glossy book and DVD of film clips and specially created videos.

Life of Pi

From Academy Award–winning director Ang Lee comes Life of Pi, based upon Yann Martel’s much loved book. An epic adventure of magical realism, Life of Pi follows the story of a young man’s incredible survival at sea against almost impossible odds. It came to UK cinemas on 20 December 2012.

The resources will help people of all faiths and none to think about the meaning of life and issues like what it means to be human. Christians in particular will find much in this film that will help to engage people in thinking hope, truth and faith.

The Life of Pi resources pack contains:

  • Six specially created videos covering issues such as the meaning of hope and what it means to be human.

  • A Leaders’ Guide providing all that a church or homegroup needs to put on an event around the film. This includes template posters, invitations, themed recipes, quizzes, discussion questions and background information.

There is also a Supplementary Resource specifically created to enable churches to help people engage with the spiritual issues in the film. This is designed to be used in conjunction with the Leader’s Guide. Click here

Les Miserables

On 11 January 2013, the world’s longest–running musical Les Miserables brings its power to the big screen with the sweeping and spectacular cinematic interpretation of Victor Hugo’s epic tale. In this stunning motion–picture adaptation the much–loved songs, including I Dreamed a Dream, Bring Him Home, One Day More and On My Own will be brought to a new audience by the film’s international superstars including Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway and Amanda Seyfried.
