‘Prayer for Peace’ at 8.30am this Saturday at Belfast City Hall

A call to prayer this Saturday… ‘Prayer for Peace’ with Police permission, at 8.30 am, Saturday 15 December at City Hall.

For 2012 the Northern Ireland Tourist Board slogan has been ‘NI 2012 our time our place’.

As the body of Christ across the land throughout the last year we have witnessed many examples of  God’s kingdom coming amongst us and we have recognised these words ‘our time our place’ as a prophetic statement and wake–up call for the church. Unfortunately the events of the last week have been disturbing and disappointing to say the least and we really don’t want the year to end like this!

With the permission and cooperation of the police and council we have planned ‘Prayer for Peace’ at 8.30 am on Saturday morning outside Belfast City Hall. We are hoping to form a unbroken chain of people right around the city hall who together will take 5 minutes to pray for our leaders, the city and ultimately for peace in our land.

We also feel that this non–threatening and humble prayerful approach would be a wonderful show of church unity and a powerful declaration to the nation of the heart of Christ reflected through His body. We would love for you to join us!

Those of you connected with social media –  So that we are all communicating the same thing for the greatest impact, we would love it if you could tweet & facebook the following message:

“Prayer for Peace with Police permission, Sat 15th Dec 8.30am at City Hall #ourtimeourplace #allwelcome”

Also, the shopkeepers & businesses in our city have been hit pretty hard over the last week or so, so why not buy your morning coffee/breakfast from one of them. They could use the help too!

And finally, so far the feedback to this initiative has been overwhelming and we are expecting a large number of people. If you are approached by the press asking you to make a statement we would respectfully ask you to decline as we are very conscious of the delicate political and religious tension at the moment and this is simply an opportunity for everyone who believes in God to pray for the peace and prosperity of our land.

No agendas, No flags, No badges – Its just the whole church together to pray.
