Holywood Parish to premiere new cantata
Deirdre Harshaw, Leader of Music at Holywood Parish, is given the score of “The Pathway of Christ – The Holywood Cantata” by the composer Philip Stopford (centre) in preparation for its premier performance on 22 March in the church.
The piece, commissioned by the parish, uses words by parishioner Jake Gallagher. The Vicar, Rev’d Roger Elks, said, “We are so privileged to be hosting this premier and to be involved in producing what will undoubtedly be a very popular work. The cantata follows the gospel story from Palm Sunday to the Ascension in 7 movements. I know that other churches and choirs will be keen to sing this in the future.”
