Dock cafe to close! …for a week

Revd Chris Bennett writes…

We’re closing down! But before you start weeping and gnashing your teeth, it’s only for a week, and it’s so that we can renovate and renew the space (as well as adding some long–planned improvements) in time for a grand re–opening on 26 Feb – or Eamonn Day, as we call it in Dock World.

Eamonn Day marks the anniversary of that unforgettable week when, spurred on by the deadline of the arrival of Eamonn Holmes and the Songs Of Praise film crew, we transformed an empty concrete shell into the genesis of Dock Cafe in six days flat:

Do it for Eamonn

And so for another six days this year – Tuesday 19 – Mon 25 February – we’re going to make another transformation! This time it will be re–painting and redesigning Dock Cafe with all sorts of new quirky features, so that the best space to chill out in Belfast becomes even better.

Plans include a forest, some extremely significant desks, a booth for making your fortune, something SAD, something old and something new. Intrigued…? Then make sure 2.00pm on 26 Feb is marked in your diary for the grand re–opening – or better still, join us between 11 and 5 on any of our “six days”, wearing old grubby clothes and ready to wield a sponge, a paintbrush or a screwdriver.
