New Bible for South Sudan

South Sudan officially became an independent nation on 9 July 2011 and the Bible Society of South Sudan was established by the end of the same year.

Many Christians have felt the need to relocate to South Sudan to avoid persecution and conflict in the north. Praise the Lord for opportunities to make God’s Word available to Christians and for outreach through Churches.

There was a great day of celebration in Malakal, South Sudan last weekend, as around 2,000 people turned up in temperatures over 40 degrees to celebrate the new Shilluk Bible – the first Bible translation to be launched since the establishment of the new nation!

Praise God for this momentous occasion. Please pray that there will be more days like this soon as the Zande and Dinka Bibles are also at their final stages. Ask God to provide funds to make His Word available to those who are still waiting.
