Pro–Vision is helping churches realise their vision

Interest is growing, among churches across the province, in a new programme produced by Creed Ireland. Pro–VISION helps churches think through their vision and consider how they can finance it.

CREED first piloted its Pro–VISION programme with churches in 2011. It is designed to help local churches successfully rise to the challenge of sustaining and developing ministry, even in financially challenging times. It has been piloted in nine churches and is currently running in a cluster of a further ten churches.

Successfully piloting Pro–VISION has enabled Creed to refine Pro–VISION, making it even more relevant for any church setting. It has been designed to run comfortably in churches of any denomination.

Stories are coming back from local churches that have run Pro–VISION telling of new understanding of their mission and how they are discovering the means to accomplish it. New accounts of fresh thinking, creative communication and inspired prayer are emerging. To capture some of these inspiring stories Creed is planning to produce a new DVD, telling stories of hope.

Following the principle that money follows vision, Pro–VISION offers churches a step–by–step process that gives two essential outcomes. Firstly it helps churches understand what God is calling them to do in terms of ministry in their local community. On that foundation it then gives practical tools for addressing finance by biblical teaching, prayer and action.

Talking of their experiences and hopes for Pro–VISION one church stated “Pro–Vision aims to build a sense of welcome and Christian love into every aspect of church life and to grow and develop activities to enable our church to touch more lives in our community”.

Creed Development Officer John Shannon (pictured above) says, “The strength of the CREED Pro–VISION Programme is that it has been tested in urban, rural, traditional and contemporary churches”. He continued, “Pro–VISION is rooted in the confidence that God has a mission for every church in their local community. If this is the case Pro–VISION aims to help local churches to adequately resource that mission or vision by examining our attitudes to wealth, giving and generosity”.
