Crosslinks missionary awarded the MBE

Warm congratulations to long serving Crosslinks missionary, Karen Salmon, who has been awarded the MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List. Karen is a nurse and has been honoured for “services to improving health and lives in Ethiopia”.

Karen, whose sending parish is Knocknagoney in the Diocese of Down, has worked with Ctrosslinks in Ethiopia since 1993. Currently she is working in the north–west of the country in Mekelle. She is teaching Community Health Evangelism, Christian Leadership, Christian Counselling, Research Methodology, and Development Studies in a local college. Karen is also helping with a women’s ministry for those recovering from fistula surgery and being trained as Safe Motherhood Ambassadors.

Long–time friend of the diocese and broadcaster, Paul Clarke is also made MBE for “voluntary service to the community in Northern Ireland”. Finally, congratulations also go to Mrs Desney Cromey, a parishioner of Jordanstown in the Diocese of Connor, made MBE for “services to bereaved children in Northern Ireland.
