Ordinand will ‘Run for Christ’ round Ireland

Church of Ireland ordinand, Alastair Donaldson, plans to run around Ireland via 52 marathons (1298 miles – 8 weeks 3 days), sharing the Gospel, preaching in each stop–off location and devoting Sunday to the Lord

Alastair is an enthusiastic and hopeful, if somewhat ordinary, runner and he has taken part in 5 marathons in the last 7 years. He hopes to be able to interest a number of friends and colleagues to accompany him on this venture with them running whole marathons or just a few miles.

The Vision

‘Ireland Run for Christ’ is an initiative seeking to expose many people on the Island of Ireland to the amazing Good News of Jesus Christ; His death, resurrection and ascension; and what it means for their own lives.

As part of the process, ‘Crosslinks’ who are partnering the team on this venture hope to be able to partner with a number of churches across the Island of Ireland whose passion like theirs is to see more people, young and old, come into a life–saving faith with Jesus Christ.

Consisting of 1298 miles at approximately 26 miles /day from Crossmaglen, Northern Ireland (Alastair’s hometown) around the perimeter of Ireland and back again to Crossmaglen some 8 weeks and 3 days later. This will commence 1st July 2013 and finish (hopefully) the 29th August 2013.

For more details of the route see the website.

Alastair says, “Spurred on by different people accompanying them as well as many well–wishers in the different towns and villages, this ambitious feat will be achieved. And the most important thing will be the love of a Saviour who will provide everything necessary.”
