Maridi supporters meet at Dromore Cathedral

Keen supporters of our link with Maridi Diocese in South Sudan had an evening together in Dromore Cathedral on 3 July.

We were delighted to have Bishop Justin and Mama Joyce with us to bring greetings and update us on the current situation in the diocese. He noted that, although independence had come, the border with the north was still unresolved as was the issue of oil revenues. Despite skirmishes elsewhere, Western Equatoria is, however, quite peaceful at the moment.

Bishop Justin emphasised just how life giving the link is, not just for Maridi but also for Down and Dromore and Albany and thanked everyone for their ongoing support.

Dromore Cathedral MU gave a gift to Mama Joyce and Annette McGrath, representing Kilkeel Parish Toddler Group, also presented Bishop Justin with a gift to help repaint the nursery school on the diocesan compound.

Annette was part of the team that visited Maridi in October 2012 and she previewed two of the five short films made after the trip.

Last week Bishop Justin and Joyce were hosted by St Gall’s Parish, Carnalea, when the Bishop was delighted to give out the Sunday School prizes. He is the preacher at Dromore Cathedral on Sunday 7 July, after which he and Mama Joyce journey home to South Sudan.

Please continue to pray for them as they minister to the diocese in the young nation of South Sudan.
