Act now to speak for peace

As Richard Haass arrives to help to see us through our current impasse we, as members of different church traditions, want to encourage our leaders and our community as a whole to seek the common good at this most opportune of times.

Bishop Harold strongly encourages us to visit www.hopeandhistory.com and sign the statement, which is introduced below:

Introduction

A number of ministers and priests have gathered together over the last few weeks to consider how we can make our voices heard in a positive way as Richard Haass begins his work. It is our view that when there is an opportunity it should be grasped and the Haass process provides that opportunity to us at a time when our society has had to face some very difficult challenges. The past year has proven a time for entrenchment and the revealing of sectarian tensions. We do not want to see the peace that we have achieved lost or squandered and so we are inviting members of the churches to sign up to the statement to give positive encouragement to those who are committed to making peace work and to improve relationships into the future. You can sign up at www.hopeandhistory.com. Please do so now!
