Prayer and Action for Syrian Refugees

Just as a Day of Prayer for Syria concludes in St Anne’s Cathedral, Belfast, The Bishops’ Appeal is one channel by which you can respond to the urgent needs of Syrian regugees…

The ongoing violent conflict in Syria has resulted in eight million people in need of humanitarian assistance. Two million have fled to neighbouring countries as refugees. One million of those are children.

Antonio Guterres, the UN refugee chief has declared this to be the worst refugee crisis since the Rwandan genocide. Arriving in neighbouring countries after a long and exhausting journey, many are living in overcrowded conditions and require essentials such as food, clean water, blankets, hygiene kits and shelter as well as psychological care.

Donations to Christian Aid and Tearfund partners on the ground in Syria, Iraq, Iran, Lebanon and Jordan can be directed to Bishops’ Appeal, Church of Ireland House, Church Avenue, Rathmines, Dublin 6.
