Knocknagoney hosts our first 24/7 Prayer training evening

The diocese has held its first 24/7 Prayer training evening in preparation for our year of continuous prayer in 2014.

From 1 January to 6 March the prayer chain will cover 17 parishes in the area from Titanic to Helen’s Bay and it was representatives from these churches who got together in Knocknagoney’s prayer room on Thursday 28 November.

We had a great evening with Tash Creaney (24/7 Prayer Ireland) and Jasper Rutherford (Summer Madness/Church Army) who gave us some background to the 24/7 prayer movement and lots of practical tips for setting up a prayer room.

And just in case the whole idea of prayer stations still seemed daunting, we devised some of our own in groups towards the end of the night and some great ideas came out of that.

The room in which we met was originally a Mother’s Union Chapel but Knocknagoney Parish have used it as a prayer room for the past 4 years and have seen the fruit of those prayers in their community.

As a diocese we are excited about the possibilities that a year of 24/7 prayer will open up and the foundation that will be laid for a powerful work of God among us.

After Christmas we will be in touch with the next group of parishes in the chain to set up another training evening.

SAVE THE DATE: Spend your New Year’s Eve with us as we launch our Year of Prayer with worship and celebration in the Titanic Quarter. The Dock Cafe at 11.30 pm on Tuesday 31 December (more details to follow).
