The Bible App goes from strength to strength

Scripture in three Irish translations and Luke’s Gospel in Ulster–Scots were recently released for download via the ‘YouVersion’ Bible App.

The app is a means to download 700 versions of the Bible in over 450 languages from the Digital Bible Library – completely free. This means that anyone can carry the Bible text with them on their smartphone, tablet or laptop. In English, there is a choice of 38 versions encompassing everything from the KJV to the more modern ESV, NIV and the Message.

This represents a huge opportunity to encourage young people to engage with scripture thanks to the power and popularity of the smartphone. Increasingly in our church services we can see people following the scripture passages on their phone.

The growth of the YouVersion service has been phenomenal – 16 million Bibles have been downloaded since July, and over 116 million to date. And it is easy to access: go to

www.bible.com

or search for YouVersion in the App Store.

Bible Society NI has produced little business cards to help you bring this resource to the attention of all smart phone/tablet users in your church. If you would like to collect some please get in touch with BSNI by email:
