Gilnahirk has the prayer scroll!

Revd Nigel Kirkpatrick, rector of Gilnahirk, is pictured here on the left receiving the prayer scroll from the rector of Orangefield, Canon Walter Lavery.

Here are Orangefield’s encouraging words about their time holding the scroll…

“”Those who took part found it to be spiritually uplifting. We tried using different ways to worship and pray including choral evensong with readings and prayers celebrating the gift of music and ministry. Prayer walks around the church stopping and praying at the pews and blessing those who sit in those seats Sunday by Sunday. Others found the peace of praying quietly provided an oasis of calm in a busy world and were amazed at how quickly the hour passed.  Many returned for a further quiet time. One participant is planning to use the time she would have spent on a crossword now in prayer.  Those who could not come to church were able to pray at home along with someone in the prayer room which was a great support. We hope that others find their time during the year of prayer as rewarding”.

Parishioners from St Dorothea’s are praying night and day as part of the diocese’s year of 24–7 Prayer until they hand over the scroll to St Molua’s, Stormont on 26 January.
