St Finnian’s date announced for St Peter’s Boy’s Choir

One of Northern Ireland’s most prestigious choirs will be performing at St Finnian’s Parish, East Belfast on 4 April 2014 at 7.30 pm.

St Peter’s Cathedral Boys Choir, Schola Cantorum, led by Music Director Nigel McClintock, and with former Irish President Mary McAleese as patron, has had notable achievements in the last few years.

Not only has the choir released two CDs, but it has appeared at the Waterfront with The Priests, sung before Pope Benedict XVI at St Peter’s Basilica, Rome and performed to great acclaim in Westminster Cathedral and Notre–Dame Cathedral in Paris.

The choir is much in demand for television and radio broadcasts. In 2010, the choristers were the subject of a three–part BBC Television Documentary, ‘Choirboys’. In 2012, Schola Cantorum was invited to participate in Philip Hammond’s ‘Titanic Requiem’ which was held in both Belfast Cathedrals, St. Anne’s and Peter’s, on consecutive days, as part of the Titanic Centenary commemorations. And recently members of the choir could be found on stage at the Grand Opera House, Belfast as part of the chorus.

The concert by Schola Cantorum will be the first visit to the East Belfast area by the choir and will include a varied programme.

Tickets can be obtained from St Finnian’s parish office: Tel: (028) 9079 2793 or from David Cairns, tel: (028) 9070 1689.

Suggested donation £10.00 each.
