Getting ready for 24–7 Prayer

Since November 2013, we’ve been running ahead of the prayer scroll and preparing our churches for their 24–7 prayer slot with a series of training evenings around the diocese.

On 7 April, 40 representatives from the next group of parishes gathered in Annalong for training from our 24–7 Prayer Coordinator, Tash Creaney.

With her trademark enthusiasm, Tash gave the group some background to the 24–7 prayer movement and the diocese’s year of continuous prayer. She shared lots of practical tips for setting up and running a prayer room and dealt with important issues such as gathering a team and keeping the room secure during the night.

The prayer room is a multi–sensory space set up with creative stations, each with a different focus to guide and stimulate people in their praying. Tash shared some great prayer station ideas from parishes that have already held the prayer scroll and also got the group to do some brainstorming of their own.

The scroll is currently in Bangor having begun its journey on 1 January in the Titanic Quarter at the Dock Cafe. All of our parishes will hold the scroll at some point during the year and thus the responsibility for sustaining prayer as we lay the foundation for our Year of Mission in 2015.

It has been an overwhelmingly positive experience so far and we’re confident that the group of parishes just trained will be blessed as they embark upon their 24–7 prayer slot in the next couple of months.

Here’s a small photo gallery from the evening.
