When the Archbishop met ‘Noah’

On Wednesday (2 April) Russell Crowe, star of Noah, met with Justin Welby at Lambeth Palace to discuss faith and spirituality. The meeting was arranged by Damaris Trust and Paramount Pictures.

The Archbishop called the film “interesting and thought–provoking”. Russell Crowe tweeted@JustinWelby thank you for welcoming me to the beautiful @lambethpalace, I really enjoyed our conversation. Pleased #Noah resonated”

Following a recent screening of the film, many leaders expressed their enthusiasm for this big–screen adaptation of the Genesis story, and the opportunities it creates for discussing faith issues with a wide range of people. Krish Kandiah (Executive Director of the Evangelical Alliance) said “I’m going to encourage everyone I know to see the film – and then I want the discussion to begin.”

Noah stars Academy Award® winner Russell Crowe in the title role, and is inspired by the biblical story of courage, sacrifice and hope. Noah also features Emma Watson, Jennifer Connelly, Ray Winstone and Anthony Hopkins, from director Darren Aronofsky. It is in UK cinemas now.

Damaris Trust is providing free resources for churches and community groups, all built around clips from the film. These are available at www.damaris.org/noah where people can also request a free resource pack to be sent to them in the post.

Leaders of organisations can order bulk quantities of the resource packs for free, for use in events – contact Judy at judy.schildhouse@damaris.org.
