A special link between St. Columba’s, Knock and Enniskillen Cathedral

On Sunday 29 June at the 11.00 am service in St. Macartin’s Cathedral, Enniskillen, a new link between St. Columba’s, Knock and St. Macartin’s will be formed. This marks an exciting beginning for both congregations, and has the full support of the Bishop of Down and Dromore and the Bishop of Clogher.  The preacher will be the Rector of St. Columba’s, Knock, Revd John Auchmuty and the congregation will enjoy a picnic after the service.

Both parishes already know each other well and good friendships have been established. The Dean of Enniskillen, The Very Revd Kenneth Hall and his congregation generously supported fundraising efforts by parishioners from St. Columba’s, Knock for their parish visit to Zambia in 2012. He invited 2 parishioners from St. Columba’s, Knock to cycle up the cathedral aisle when they arrived on a Sunday morning during their NI Cathedral Cycle Marathon. He also preached at the Harvest service in St. Columba’s, Knock in October 2013.

Both congregations have a lot in common. They both share a deep appreciation for liturgical worship with a good musical tradition and both actively encourage lay participation. This new link will enrich each parish in the serving of the risen Christ, while still maintaining their separate identities. It will allow personal friendships to develop and both parishes will benefit greatly from this mutual link.

The Dean and members of Enniskillen Cathedral will be warmly welcomed at St. Columba’s, Knock when they visit on Sunday 7 September for the morning service which will be followed by a picnic in Crawfordsburn.
