Revd Bill Press instituted in Knockbreda
Bishop Harold has instituted Revd William (Bill) Press as rector of Knockbreda Parish, Belfast. Revd Eddie Coulter (pictured right), Superintendent of Irish Church Missions, Dublin and a longtime friend of Bill’s, gave the address at the service on 26 June.
Bill and Eddie have served together in Serbia at Crosslinks’ Schools of Bible Training and also have in common their curacies at Knockbreda under the former rector and Archdeacon of Down, Ven Philip Patterson.
About Bill
Bill is married to Claire, who works part–time as an English teacher at Portadown College, and they have three children, Sam (11), Cara (8) and Mark (5).
Previously he was Rector of Kilhorne Church, Annalong. Bill served there for 9 very happy years. Before his appointment to Kilhorne he was curate in St Elizabeth’s Dundonald and prior to that Knockbreda parish.
He was ordained by Bishop Harold in 1999 and so has spent all of his ministry to date in Down and Dromore. Prior to ordination, Bill worked in industry as an electrical and electronic engineer.
Bill’s priorities in ministry include expository Bible teaching and preaching, pastoral care of the vulnerable, and evangelism, especially among young people.
Speaking about returning to Knockbreda, Bill said: “Claire and I are very excited at the prospect of ministering again in Knockbreda. We look forward to building on the faithful work of our friend the late Philip Patterson. As a family we are very grateful for the prayers of so many – both in Knockreda and Annalong.”
