The prayer scroll is back in Belfast

The prayer scroll is back in Belfast, not too far from where its journey began on 1 January. After travelling through north Down, across Strangford Lough, and through south Down, Newry handed over the responsibility for 24–7 prayer to Drumbeg at diocesan synod last week.

Pictured below, on 23 June, Revd Willie Nixon and Michael Barnett from Drumbeg, hand over the scroll to Bernie McAvoy who is representing St Jude’s Ballynafeigh.

“The handover took place half way across the Ormeau Bridge,” says Berni. “This is an interface area in our community and we felt it was symbolic to carry the prayers of the church for kingdom mission across the bridge into our Parish.

Berni continues: “Our prayer room is in the halls as we have building work going on at the church. So far it has been wonderful and the comments are so positive. There’s a real sense of God’s presence and peace. If you’re in the area do pop in, it would be great to have you with us.

“We have extended an invitation to other churches in the area also and some of the ministers and congregations are planing to join us for United Prayer at 8.00pm–9.00pm each evening.
