The visiting preacher who didn’t visit!

Donaghadee Parish recently made creative use of technology when they launched their E100 Bible Challenge.

The visiting preacher at the special service on 7 September was Revd Adam Egan from St Stephen’s Delmar in Albany Diocese, Donaghadee’s link parish. It was Adam’s first time speaking in Ireland but his feet did not actually touch Irish soil as his sermon was delivered via Facetime (Apple’s version of Skype).

‘Adam was present for the entire service (see below) and was able to join in using his own copy of the BCP,’ said parishioner, Donna Spence. ‘Adam’s church has already completed the E100 challenge and so he was able to tell us his experience of it and encourage us all to participate.

‘We would like to thank him for giving up his time to speak to us especially as it meant getting up at 5.30 am to join us. We hope to meet him in person someday but this will mean he’ll have to get a passport!’
