An excellent Clergy Conference

Serving clergy and some of our parish workers enjoyed input from 4 very different speakers at the Down and Dromore Clergy Conference in Donegal.

Spud Murphy, Director of CVM Ireland, took one session on reaching men and at our evening services in the parish church, Malcolm Duncan preached a stunning 3 sermons in 1 Peter 1–3. Chuck Owens was hugely challenging on leading a church from being an institution to a movement and Graham Tomlin shared his thoughts on the need to have ‘spiritually fit’ churches.

Here are a few comments from our participants:

Revd Alan Peek, attending for the first time: ‘Even though our speakers had very different styles and backgrounds I found each of their teachings to be excellent and the synergy of what they were saying was very powerful. For me it’s summed up in our need to learn to be God’s people and God’s church.’

Revd Raj and Premila Sathyaraj, also attending their first conference: ‘It’s been a great blessing – the teaching the fellowship, the beautiful surroundings. We have been refreshed.’

Revd Simon Richardson: I always enjoy the conference and it’s good to be reminded that we’re part of something bigger than our parish. The speakers have just been brilliant. I particularly enjoyed Malcolm Duncan and would say it’s possibly the best preaching I’ve ever heard, so really encouraging.’

We were delighted also to have guests from our link diocese of Albany, several representatives from the Methodist Church and our host in Donegal Town, Ven David Huss.
