Reaching out with WW1 remembrance

The parish of Magheralin is taking a creative approach to outreach with a World War One remembrance event in their halls on 5 November at 7.30 pm.

‘Remember, Remember’ will include an exhibition of WW1 Memorabilia, a community sing along to war time songs and hymns and a presentation of the gospel entitled, “Onward Christian Soldiers? What place did faith have in World War One?”

Everyone will receive a copy of the 100th Anniversary edition of the Active Service St John’s Gospel and at the end of the evening The Last Post will be played.

Parishes will also have the chance to commemorate the the First World War with a specially written Service of the Word from the Church of Ireland Liturgical Advisory Committee. The LAC hopes that the resource will prove useful on Remembrance Sunday, a Sunday when many visitors come to church, or at another appropriate time.
