We’re still being blessed by 24–7 Prayer

We’re nine and a half months into our diocesan Year of 24–7 Prayer and the prayer scroll is about to move to St Mary’s Comber where it will remain until 17 October.

Back in August, Seagoe Parish completed 72 hours of continuous prayer and, in common with other churches, found the experience both humbling and encouraging. In fact, so much so that they agreed to take the prayer scroll again and are pictured handing it over to Seapatrick earlier this month.

Thank you to Seagoe for sharing their 24/7 Prayer experience below…

We were not disappointed as we stepped out of our busyness into the quiet tranquillity of the prayer rooms to just spend time with our amazing God.

Here are some of the comments made by those who came to pray, some of which were subsequently recorded on the Diocesan Prayer Scroll before it was passed on to Shankhill Parish Church, Lurgan:

“I felt insignificant and yet important enough to belong in the throne room of God.”

“God has broken whatever was holding me back in my prayer life and now I can pray like never before.”

“One hour became two and I had to come back for more.”

“I experienced an emotional and spiritual depth beyond anything I have ever felt before.”

“I just couldn’t leave it.”

“I just wanted to say thanks for organising 24/7. I have been very moved by it all and especially this morning reading other prayers, so emotional to know that behind those smiling faces on a Sunday there is so much heartbreak. I feel so blessed to be a part of the church and its people. God Bless”.

The sense is that over the 24/7 prayer period God met us at our point of need behind our everyday masks and in many cases tears which flowed during prayer time brought healing, release, thankfulness and joy – a true blessing. This was evident in the volume of prayer requests from the young and not so young, as hearts were opened in acknowledgement that God hears every prayer, and delights when we share our lives and innermost thoughts with Him.
