Magheralin Halls filled with memories of WW1

Around 280 people, young and old, flocked to Magheralin Church Halls on 5 November for ‘Remember, Remember’, an event recalling the sights and sounds of World War One.

The evening included an exhibition of WW1 Memorabilia, a community sing–along to war time songs and hymns and Revd Adrian Green, rector of Mount Merrion Parish, Belfast, reflected on the place of faith in war. Everyone attending received a copy of the 100th Anniversary edition of the Active Service St John’s Gospel.

The Ancre Somme Association (pictured below) dramatised the war of the 36th Ulster Division – their enlisting, leaving, letters home and the loss of life they suffered. It was appropriate that during the evening, the gathering paused to honour the war dead as their names were read out.  The night ended with a rendition of The Last Post.
