A short update from the Hope Builders team in Uganda

A Fields of Life Hope Builders team left for Uganda on Fri 23 January with a very good representation from Down and Dromore.

The team has been hard at work in very high temperatures building an ‘A’ Level block and a dormitory at Bethel Royal School, Nakansongola, a few hours north of Kampala.

Revd Ken McGrath, rector of Kilkeel, texted a brief but encouraging message to the parish today.

“Just had a great service starting at 10.30 am and not over until after one! Lunch was served and now we are enjoying a rest.

One member of our team has been saved during the trip and all of us are impacted greatly by the work here and the need too.

I ran to the Silent Valley this morning. It is a dam built by Gary Spence early in 2014 and is almost full. It’s a vital source of water for crops and livestock.

Work is advancing well, morale is good. Pray that is how it will stay.”

Note: Gary Spence is a young man from Kilkeel Parish who, as part of his degree in Agriculture, spent 3 months in Uganda last year.  He hopes to get back in September for a 3 week visit.
